Florida via Brooklyn singer-songwriter Helado Negro makes music that honours his Ecuadorian roots, as well the diverse sounds that he was surrounded by growing up. In 2019, he released an absolute beauty of an album This Is How You Smile which celebrates his heritage through through the frequent use of Spanish singing and Latin guitar. Standout track on the album is undoubtedly 'Running', for which he's just released a stripped-back, intimate performance video. He explains: "I began the song with a vocal melody pattern, and built chords around it."...and what a gorgeous melody it is! The stripped-back performance is full of incredibly emotive piano chords, and Helado's stirring vocals that'll either leave you in tears, or at least with goosebumps on the back of your neck. It affirms that 'Running' is and will always be a very special song. -Ellie Rose-Davies
